JoinPix: The Engineering Behind the QR-Based Collaborative Photo Gallery
Published by Maieutica Labs • September 17, 2026

Every wedding, corporate event, or sports tournament generates hundreds of photos scattered across guests' phones, compressed into illegibility in WhatsApp chats, or simply lost. JoinPix, one of our in-house products, is Maieutica's answer to that operational problem: a collaborative gallery that opens by scanning a QR code, with no apps or sign-ups involved.
The Problem: Friction in Capturing a Unique Moment
An event doesn't repeat itself. If a guest has to download an app, create an account, or guess who to forward their photos to, most simply won't, and that content is lost forever. The de facto standard (WhatsApp groups) solves distribution but degrades quality: the platform compresses images by up to 80%, leaving the organizer with files unusable for printing or publishing in high definition.
The Engineering Solution: QR, No Friction, Original Quality
JoinPix removes every intermediate step between the guest's camera and the event gallery. A QR code printed on tables or projected on screen opens the gallery directly in the mobile browser; no install, no sign-up. Photos and videos are stored at their original resolution, without the aggressive compression of messaging apps, and the organizer downloads the full collection as a single ZIP file from their dashboard.
Live Mode and Network Resilience
For weddings and corporate events, we built a 'Live Mode': the gallery link opens on the computer connected to the projector or the DJ's screen, and every new photo appears automatically as the event continues. We also anticipated the spotty signal common at venues and haciendas: guests can capture photos with their native camera during the party and batch-upload them once they reconnect to WiFi, without losing any.
An In-House Product, the Same Engineering Discipline
JoinPix comes from the same discipline we apply to client projects: identify the real operational bottleneck (in this case, capturing and delivering event content) and build the minimal solution that removes friction for the end user. Today it serves weddings, companies, venues, and sports tournaments across Mexico, and can be tried free with up to 25 photos at joinpix.app.
